Custom kiln drying
Bring us your slabs and lumber
Had a tree milled and now the boards are sitting in the barn? Air drying takes a long time, and slabs can crack, warp or pick up bugs while they wait. We'll kiln dry them so they're ready to build with.
- 50 board foot minimum
- Kiln runs on a monthly cycle, so plan on about one month
- Drop off and pick up at our Butler shop, by appointment
- Slabs and lumber, most hardwoods
What to send in your message
- Species (walnut, oak, cherry…)
- How many slabs or boards, and rough sizes
- Thickness
- About how many board feet in total
- Freshly milled (green) or already air drying, and for how long
- When you'd like to drop it off
Example: 20 boards of 8/4 walnut, about 8" × 96" each = about 213 bdft × $0.60 = about $128. We confirm the board feet at drop-off.

About
Dried right here in Butler
Mid Mo Drying Company is a kiln operation in Butler, Missouri, about an hour south of Kansas City. We dry and sell live-edge hardwood slabs, mostly black walnut, pecan and ash, for woodworkers, furniture makers and folks building their first table.
Air-dried and green slabs can keep moving and cracking after you build with them. Ours go through the kiln first. Every slab is numbered, measured and priced by the board foot, so you know exactly what you're paying for.
